highbury young singers

Highbury Young Singers was founded in 1996 by Sarah Wilkinson and Scott Stroman as the youth choir of Eclectic Voices, to provide opportunities for children and young people to perform with professional musicians in a wide range of styles. The Singers have performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Union Chapel, St Paul's Covent Garden and has recorded at Air Studios for Children in Need, and mounted productions of Pete Churchill's David & Goliath and The Little Sweep by Britten.

Over the last five years, the choir has also formed the youth chorus of Highbury Opera Theatre, appearing in Britten's Noye’s Fludde, Tobias and the Angel by Jonathan Dove and in June 2014, Scott Stroman's jazz musical version of As You Like It.

We now comprise two choirs: Highbury Young Singers (ages 6-10) and Middle Ground (11-18). Members are drawn from all over North London, coming together on Thursday afternoons to receive high quality choral training and enjoy making music together.

The choirs are led by Sarah Wilkinson (Highbury Young Singers) and Helen Smee (Middle Ground). Our aim is to promote a life-long love of singing and live performance and a passion for music of all genres. Our General Manager is Rosamund Hatfield.
